This is an online community of 4000+ people (also called makers) who  create art pieces (e.g. sculptures and different types of baskets out of materials such as willow, grasses and other typical plant-based fibres.

Project "What is home?"

During the peak of the global COVID pandemic, a creative project was initiated to explore what home is to people around the world. Responses came from countries around the world and here you can see some examples, which was also connected to a visual expression for those interested.

Mentoring

Mathilde has always found mentoring setups highly valuable and she has over the years both been a mentor and mentee. Mathilde has over the years mentored a refugee, an international student and was accepted to mentor at LaunchX. During her time working in the service industry, she had a mentor as part of one of her roles, she participated in a mentoring program at QUT and in 2020/2021 she was part of the Lord Mayor's Multicultural Mentoring Scheme, which is a year long program where she was a mentee.

The Creative Industries and The Arts

Mathilde has been working, volunteered and been an intern in various roles in the arts and most recent she was a volunteer guide at QAGOMA. After working in an art museum in Denmark she has explored this field further in Brisbane, where she has also been involved with Art from the Margins for a numbers of years in various roles. She has assisted at the Brisbane Powerhouse and Brisbane Festival at the Valentine’s Busk, where she was part of setting the Guinness World Record to mention a few.

Academia

Mathilde is a casual academic at the University of Queensland, where she is a tutor in Danish. She seeks do more work in the university space and aim to undertake a PhD in the future in a area still to be defined.

The Danish Club 'Heimdal' in Brisbane

In 2020 Mathilde joined the Danish Club in Brisbane and became the Vice President after a time where the committee only consisted of a few people and Heimdal was facing the challenges of a pandemic as well as a generational change. She later became the President and was pleased to handover her work to a full committee with new members. The reason for first getting involved was to implement a playgroup, why she also participated in a course for children being raised bi- or multi-lingual.

Entrepreneurship and start-ups

Mathilde first got involved with the entrepreneurship environment through her studies in the Creative Industries. It was the creative aspect of this field while also being able to make a change in various ways, which led Mathilde to go down this path from finishing her master studies at QUT as a mature student. She has for example worked with QUT Bluebox and for QUT ACE (a leading Australian entrepreneurship research centre). Since first working in this field, Mathilde has also participated in a broad range of activities such as the Creative Tech Startup Weekend i Brisbane (2016), the Collider Accelerator (investment received), pitching including shortlisting for the CREATIVE3 pitch competition (round 1). Beside this, Mathilde has received various bursaries from QUT CEA and worked out of their offices. While being a student at QUT, Mathilde was a committee member of the first student entrepreneurship club at the university and since then Mathilde has been crucial in establishing and getting the female entrepreneurship initiative of the ground, QUT HerHub. Early on she was also inspired by being a volunteer for the Run The World event - a conferene for extraordinary women. Mathilde holds a certificate in New Venture Leadership by MIT after being selected for their first Bootcamp in Brisbane (highly competitive selection process).
